We’re a retired military family of eight! We have five daughters and the youngest is our son. We’re an active family that loves to take our dogs on all our adventures! They’re not just pets, they’re part of our family!
Both my husband, Phil, and I served in the U.S. Army for several years. Phil is experienced at assessing for Service Dogs - previously he worked with Operation Freedom Paws. If you’re active duty or veteran, let us know and we will offer a special incentive.

Quality breeders will select a focus for their breeding program - ours is first and foremost health and wonderful personalities, contributing to the best bloodlines. Next to that, we tempt Poodle color palettes in exciting colorful combinations. Most people are familiar with black, red, brown and white poodles, but here at California Poodles we focus on unique coat patterns. Did you know the original poodle was Parti color, half white and half black/brown/red/blue? We love Sable, Phantom, Merle, and Parti pups. All poodles are beautiful, to us patterned poodles are exceptional.

Our poodles are purebred not because they have "papers," they are purebred because they have only ever had purebred poodles in their lineage. "Papers" can NOT guarantee the puppy you are buying is purebred, but a DNA test can. A good breeder should be able to show you genetic testing proving that their dams and sires are purebred.
All of our poodles have had their DNA tested for a variety of different genetic diseases and have also had their DNA tested for the coat color, and modifying coat color. Click on the icon in each dog's profile to see the health testing results. Testing includes the following:
¹ At risk means a dog does carries two copies of a variant. None of our poodles are "At Risk" or "Affected." Carrier means a dog carries only one copy of a variant, and is not at risk for developing the illness.
* We test for genetic DCM (Dilated Cardiomyopathy). The poodle breed is not prone to genetic DCM, but is not immune to nutritional DCM. Nutritional DCM is caused by grain-free food, which is why we do not recommend feeding it. Please be advised that our Health Guarantee does NOT cover nutritional DCM.
